Green Resources
Consumers are showing that environmental issues remain important to them, despite today's economic challenges. As hotels continue to build customer loyalty, communicating sustainability initiatives to them is now more important. According to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the best way to reduce your property's carbon footprint is to implement top down initiatives that account for water, waste, and energy efficiency at a structural level. Working in conjunction with sustainability experts at a dozen of the leading hotel companies, the AH&LA Green Task Force issued 11 minimum green guidelines essential for any property identifying itself as green. Collectively these guidelines reduce costs, as well as energy, water, and waste, while boosting your public image.
The following list of organizations offer various resources in reducing waste, recyclying, and certification programs. For a more comprehensive approach, check out AH&LA's website to get started.
